Aspen Center for Physics
If you wish to give a presentation, send a title and abstract by December 15 to aspenplanets@astro.princeton.edu. The default presentation form is a poster, and everyone is welcome to bring one. We will select some contributions to be given as talks of order 15 min in length. Thanks to a generous grant from the NASA
Astrobiology Institute, we have some money to help
support student and young postdoctoral researchers attend the meeting. We will also have some
additional money to support a smaller number of more senior attendees. If you would like to apply for such a grant, please send a short
statement of your needs, the title and abstract of your presentation (talk or poster), and, if
applicable, a short (few sentence at most) description of how your research interests align with
those of the Astrobiology Institute. For more information on the NAI goals, see the
Astrobiology roadmap at http://astrobiology.arc.nasa.gov/roadmap/index.html.
[We anticipate that all attendees working on planet formation and detection will have
adequate links to the NAI].
LOCATION: Given the overwhelming response for this meeting, the conference will be held in the Paepcke Auditorium at the Aspen Institute (which can seat up to ~350 people). The Aspen Institute, Aspen Center for Physics, and Aspen Meadows hotel are all connected as part of the same complex. LODGING: You MUST make your own hotel reservations! Due to pressure from the HBO Comedy Festival
in town the same week as the meeting, the Aspen Meadows is already booked. We're sorry about this, but there
are still plenty of rooms available in Aspen, including at the following places:
There are many other hotels in the Aspen/Snowmass area. TRAVELING TO ASPEN: Make reservations now since winter travel is popular. Flying from Denver to
Aspen takes about 35 minutes and is served by United Express, 1-800-241-6522.
There are direct flights to Aspen from Minneapolis & Memphis (Northwest 1-800-225-2525), Los
Angeles & San Francisco (United), and Phoenix (America West). There are also direct flights to
Eagle from Chicago, Miami, New York, Newark and Dallas (American Airlines) and Atlanta and
Cincinnati (Delta).
CONFERENCE SCHEDULE: A draft scientific program is available on the conference website. The program has been planned for early morning and late afternoon sessions, which allows participants to have ample time for discussions or recreational activities. There will be two sessions each day, a morning one from approximately 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and the afternoon session from approximately 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you in February!
